I Got Next (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web RSVP service at igotnext.io.

Information We Collect

Account Information (Mobile App)

• Phone Number: Used for account verification via SMS one-time passcode and, if you opt in, to send game coordination text messages. Your phone number is securely hashed for storage and is never shared with other users or used for marketing purposes by us or any third party. See SMS Communications below for details on the messaging program.
• Display Name: The name you choose to show other players at courts and on RSVP rosters.

Profile Information (Optional)

• Skill level (1–10)
• Playing position (guard, forward, center)
• Height

Activity Data

• Check-in and check-out times at basketball courts
• Courts you visit (only visible when you’re checked in)
• Games you organize or RSVP to

Guest RSVPs (Web)

When someone RSVPs to a game via a share link without installing the app:

• Name: The display name they enter — visible to the organizer and other RSVPs.
• Phone number (optional): If provided, it is hashed (SHA-256 with a private salt) before storage. We never see or store the actual phone number from the RSVP form.
• The hash exists only to prevent duplicate RSVPs. It is not used for any other purpose.

Contact Information (Optional - Friend Finding Feature)

If you choose to use our “Find Friends” feature in the mobile app, we may access your device contacts with your explicit permission:

• How it works: Phone numbers from your contacts are cryptographically hashed (SHA-256) on your device before being sent to our servers. We never see or store the actual phone numbers from your contacts.
• Purpose: The hashed values are compared against hashed phone numbers of existing users to show you which of your contacts already use I Got Next.
• Your control: This feature is entirely optional. You can use the app without granting contact access. Contact permission can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
• Data handling: Contact hashes are used only for matching and are not stored permanently. No contact names, emails, or other details are ever collected.

Location Information

• Distance calculation: We request location permission to calculate and display the distance between you and nearby basketball courts.
• Not stored: Your GPS coordinates are used only for real-time distance calculation and are NOT transmitted to or stored on our servers.
• Court association: Your location is only associated with a court when you explicitly choose to check in.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Payment or financial information
• Advertising identifiers
• Browsing history
• Photos or media (unless you explicitly upload a profile picture)
• Contact names, emails, or other contact details (only phone number hashes for matching, if you opt in)
• Persistent location tracking (location is only used for distance calculation, not stored)

How We Use Your Information

• To verify your phone number and create your account
• To show other players who is currently at a court or RSVP’d to a game
• To maintain accurate player counts at courts and games
• To send you push notifications about court activity (if enabled)
• To improve our app and user experience

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• With Other Users: Your display name, skill level, position, and check-in / RSVP status are visible to other users when relevant.
• Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate our app:
  • Supabase: Secure database and authentication
  • Twilio: SMS one-time passcode verification and delivery of opt-in game coordination text messages
  • Expo: Push notification delivery
  • Firebase: App analytics and crash reporting
  • Google Places API: Court location and mapping data
  • Netlify: Web hosting for igotnext.io
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

SMS Communications

I Got Next uses SMS for two distinct purposes. We treat them separately because the consent required is different.

1. Account Verification (One-Time Passcode)

When you sign up or sign in to the mobile app, we send a one-time numeric code to the phone number you provide. This is required to confirm you control the number. These messages are transactional and are sent only in response to a sign-in attempt you initiated. Standard message and data rates may apply per your carrier plan.

2. Game Coordination Messaging Program (Opt-In)

Separately, you may opt in to receive game coordination text messages. This is the “I Got Next — Pickup Game Coordination” program. Messages include:

• RSVP requests for upcoming games on rosters you belong to
• Headcount updates as other players RSVP
• Game reminders the day of a scheduled game
• Fill-in requests when a game needs more players
• Schedule changes (time, location, or cancellation)

You opt in inside the mobile app under Settings → SMS Notifications. Enabling this setting constitutes express written consent to receive these messages at the phone number on your account. Message frequency varies; most users receive fewer than 10 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply.

How to opt out: Reply STOP to any message at any time, or disable SMS Notifications inside the mobile app. After opting out, you will receive a final confirmation message and no further program messages until you opt back in. What we do not do: We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes. Phone numbers used in the messaging program are shared only with our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) for the purpose of sending the messages described above. Mobile information (including phone numbers and opt-in status) is not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

3. RSVP Form Phone Numbers (Web)

If a guest RSVPs to a game via a share link and chooses to provide a phone number, we hash that number with SHA-256 and a private salt before storage. The hash is used only to prevent duplicate RSVPs and is not used to send SMS messages of any kind. Guests who want to receive game coordination messages must install the mobile app and opt in.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• Phone numbers are cryptographically hashed
• All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
• Access to user data is strictly limited
• Regular security audits and updates

Your Privacy Controls

• Check Out Anytime:You control when you’re visible at a court by checking in/out.
• Profile Visibility: Optional profile fields can be left blank.
• Push Notifications: Can be disabled in your device settings.
• Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings or our delete-account page.

Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

• Your profile information is permanently deleted
• Your check-in history is removed
• Your phone number hash is deleted

Children’s Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately. See our Child Safety page for details.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date.”
